Anonymous asked: Damien Rice didn't actually give them permission, he even posted something on FB and twitter saying that in response to x factor using cannonball that once a writer makes their music public they don't have to ask permission as long as they meet certain conditions. So yeah he has plenty of respect for himself, it was beyond his control.

i don’t understand how artists like damien rice and biffy clyro who produce wonderful pieces like cannonball can allow these five minute wonders to spoil their songs. do they have no respect for themselves. why can’t these competition winners just have their own song. people would buy it anyway. even if they covered the shittest song of all time the herds of sheep would buy it. kudos...
